Dear Rodriguez Families,
This is Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Martinez with important information regarding our campus closure through April 13.
I hope that you and your family were able to enjoy your Spring Break amidst all the events and changes that are occurring each day. Although we will miss seeing our students, keeping our students and staff safe is our #1 priority during this time.
As we look forward to keeping our Rodriguez staff, families, and community connected, here is some important information:
School will remain closed until April 13. Please continue to monitor the AISD website for updates.
To help our students continue learning through this time, the district has recently shared an amazing website that includes many ideas for students in every grade level, of all ability levels, and includes all subject areas. There are hands-on activities included, in case you do not have access to technology. There are also directions included on how to access your child’s learning portal from home. This website is available in Spanish. Please visit Austin ISD Learning At-Home.
AISD also sent an email sharing information with families regarding telemedicine. Students with Medicaid will receive free care. If your child is uninsured and doesn't receive free/reduced lunch, the AISD Crisis Support Fund (https://austinedfund.org/crisis-support-fund/) is providing vouchers to families to receive telemedicine care for free. Before your children can be treated, you need you to register them at https://urgentcarekids.com/aisd/. We urge parents and guardians to act now and not wait until you have a medical need.
To see a provider visit: https://virtualcarekids.com.
Rodriguez students may receive breakfast and lunch meals daily. Houston Elementary is the closest pick up location for our families. There will also be bus drop off locations for students and caregivers to receive meals. Please check the Austin ISD website for more details, times and locations at https://www.austinisd.org/coronavirus.
We encourage our families to follow us on Twitter @RodriguezElem and Facebook. We will update these sites frequently to ensure you have the latest information.
In the coming days, your child’s teacher will reach out to you. We will try to contact you via phone and/or email. Please be sure these are updated, or reach out to your teacher to update. While there will not be staff on campus during the week, we will still be checking our email and voicemail, so please send a message with any information you would like to share with your student’s teacher.
As a reminder, if you have not yet registered your child for next school year, please register them through the AISD Parent Cloud.
Make sure to check the Austin ISD website https://www.austinisd.org/coronavirusfor daily updates, as well as to access all information that has been sent out to families.
Please let our Roadrunners know we are thinking of them and want them to stay safe, healthy, and continue their learning.
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Your Proud Principals,
Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Martinez
